Christ has died. Christ has risen. Christ will come again.
The Liturgy of Good Friday actually invites us to gaze upon Jesus on the cross. We look to Christ crucified and we see our savior, our teacher, our healer, our guide, our hope! He saves us from death by dying. He teaches us that to suffer and to die for others is a true sacrifice. He heals us by taking our wounds to himself. He guides us by showing us the way of the cross as our way to glory. He gives us sure hope by making Himself a sacrificial offering to the Father.
Today we remember and we celebrate the only perfect sacrifice, the one that Christ offered on the cross as a total offering to the Father's love and for our salvation CCC2100. No. In fact we are invited to make our lives a sacrifice to God- by dying to oneself, by offering our pains, by sharing others’ hurts and sorrows, and joy; by emptying ourselves to love God and neighbor. By uniting ourselves with the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross we can make our lives a sacrifice to God.
And everytime we experience pain or suffering, whenever life becomes too difficult, whenever doing good is starting to become burdensome, remember Jesus on the cross. We can unite our sacrifices to his to that our lives can also be a sacrifice to God.
