In a viral Facebook post, Archbishop Socrates Villegas said the “the Pope is coming to Dagupan”.
But is it really Pope Francis?
Would Pope Francis come to the Philippines without an official statement from the CBCP, an official announcement on the Pope’s calendar of activities published by the Vatican, or other official announcement save for a Facebook post?
The answer is NO.
However, the Papal Nuncio is the official representative of Pope Francis.
Archbishop Charles John Brown, as Papal Nuncio to the Philippines, represents the Vatican City to the Philippine government, and represent the Pope to the country's Catholic Church. So in a sense, Pope Francis is indeed coming to Dagupan through Papal Nuncio Archbishop Charles John Brown.
The Nunciature has confirmed that Archbishop Charles John Brown, Papal Nuncio, will be visiting Dagupan on August 4.
